Announcing a mobile lidar scanning platform
We are excited to announce that we are developing a mobile lidar scanning platform at General Laser! Using the Ouster OS1-128 sensor allows us to cut hardware costs significantly while still maintaining accuracy and reliability, thus making the system available to a wider audience. Equipped with an IMU onboard and featuring a SLAM algorithm, the scanner will perform to a high standard, reaching unparalleled quality at a relatively low price target.
Below are comparison images (for full resolution see the link below) between a product by an industry-leading lidar developer and our own prototype platform. The point cloud overlay shows that about 80% of the points deviate less than 2 centimeters from each other, undermining the accuracy of our system.
The final product is planned to be released in the course of 2022 and we are excited to drive innovation and make innovative technology available to more people. We believe that lidar has great potential for the future and our product will be of great value to many industries.
